(new and improved)
He runs like the wind, and rides faster and faster each day on his two wheeled strider falling with the skill and drama of meen fall beebuubike (man falling off big boy bike).
He loves to be outdoors and is in fact outdoors if he has anything to say about it until it is dark if he has any say in it (and sometimes he does but most of the time he doesn't).
He eats lots and lots of fruit and rice noodles and moderate amounts of everything else (except meat-he really isn't a fan)
including chalk and homemade playdough.
He has discovered the Sm@rtie and would eat these from morning to night if given the chance.
Ben has a sweet tooth but doesn't really like cake or anything that might be creamy (i.e., have icing) unless of course it has a fire engine on it and it was made by Uncle Matt.
He is becoming scary long and thin...the sitter thinks he is losing weight and he very well might be given the previous paragraph and his fruit bat tendencies. We'll know for sure on Monday after his appointment with the pediatrician. (Nope, no weight loss. In fact he didn't fit on the infant measuring board today and was measured standing up. Monday stats are as follows: 87.9cm (34.5inches) and 13.3kg (29ish pounds).
Books are our friend. No matter how big the fit Ben is throwing
(and there have been several whoppers this week alone) he can be calmed down with an epic reading session. He will share books with mama for 30 or more minutes 2 or 3 times per day. Truck books, story books, truck books, counting books and his favourite, I Love My Mommy. And of course anything by Dr. Seuss and Sandra Boynton.
And songs. My Ben loves to sing and twinkle twinkle is in the lead for the song he will most likely know the words to first...with Baaa Baaa Black sheep in a close second. I am very very tired of hearing "meme" in the car ALL the time. Meme is Ben's word for music and I am almost at the point of self injury if I have to hear the Elmo song just one more time during our commute. Got a big HST refund check yesterday and I'll be investing in some new music for the dude before I completely loose my mind (only 13 more commuting days left thank god).
And we are experiencing a language explosion. A big one. Colours (mostly purple), numbers (mostly two, tree), letters (B,O,B,O spells just about everything...though he can chime in about 13 of the alphabet letters while I sing), labels for all kinds of objects and actions and sound effects (like peee-ewww as Boomer does his business on the grass). Words come out every day right now that have not been expressly taught and this is a big big change from even a month ago.
And I hear NO all day long. Over and over again. And into the night.
I also hear beautiful 3 and 4 and 5 word phrases like...
no auntie mama, sleep pees (translated to mean lets stay home and cuddle in bed and skip the whole babysitter work thing, okay? climb back in mama. Please.)
elaela biiiig rafraf taaaaaal (elephants are big and giraffes are tall)
tea mama bitbit mine (mama order yourself a tea but please don't forget my timbit donut)
But mostly NO. A whole lotta NO.
We've been experiencing fun with friends of all sizes:
A wee ice-cream party on the driveway for the neighbours
A little farm gathering hosted by Auntie Carol
A mini celebration of the big two at Auntie Sumi's house with some of her after school kiddies
A trip to the zoo with two of Ben's favourites (while mama FINISHED reports).
(photos coming....)
He is two. He has at times been terrible as he throws fits and tests boundaries and disagrees with mama's decisions (like, the party is over sweetie. It is 9oclock. Say good night to your friends...his response? NOOOOOO mo paaaar teee maaaamaaa, over and over for 20 minutes as I readied him for bed and then silence as he chose his first bed time book, I love My Mommy). But mostly Benjaminh Manh is a sweet easy going boy who just turned two. And mama loves that boy with all her heart and soul.
And of course the original one to two place holder photos...
