We came home from the cottage tonight.
Left the fun behind.
(Ben's first bonfire...he's playing pokemon on a DSi
with the favourite girl's big brother-
what happened to kumbaya?)
(Nana says kids can't climb on the rocks...
but she wasn't there)
(sporting his daring back to school haircut)
Tomorrow is the dude's first day at the sitter
(well, half a day).
My first day setting up my classroom
(same grade but I've moved rooms).
And he is sleeping in his own bed
in his new room
at our new place.
The road is quiet...
with the exception of the howls of the wild canines of the night
(feeling thankful I wasn't born a lamb).
So not missing the urban drama.
The car is unpacked of cottage gear
and packed back up with stuff for school.
The sitter's bag is packed.
Dentist first thing for the dude,
sure to result in a referral to a paediatric dentist...
then an unplanned visit at school
from the favourite cousins
who forgot important things at the cottage.
Ben can't wait.
He seriously loves no one more
than he loves these girls.
Who can blame him, really?
