Sleep...

So, as I said earlier, we slept through the night last night after arriving late yesterday afternoon.
I thought that we were going to trick this thing called "jet lag".

Um, no.
Apparently not.

Today's nap schedule went like this...
12:30-almost 5
6:00- nearly 9
presently asleep in the exersaucer

I've gotta get some sleep soon because I'm sure the day is about to start any minute.

Word from the now wiser me...
even if you feel great, and rested, and ready to go...
Stop and sleep if the baby stops and sleeps
because tonight is going to be a L.O.N.G night I'm thinking.

You poor thing.

Brings back memories. I seem to recall a picnic in bed with a six year old and a 6month old baby. Just praying that they would just tire out out a bit and have a wee nap.

The only thing that helped us was giving Owen short 45 minute naps (about 4 of them) throughout the day & gradually getting him to bed later in the evening. I think we started him going to bed at 5pm & after a few days he was on track and sleeping 7-7.

Good Luck. I remember how horrible it is around 5pm when you just want to be in bed. Owen kicked the jet leg MUCH faster than I did. It took me almost 2 weeks to feel normal, Owen 3-4 days.

The jet lag is ghastly but you will feel better in a couple of days. Sleep whenever you can - try not to focus on any kind of schedule. Schedules and jet lag do no go together.

Ah yes, sleep when the baby sleeps. It is good advice, but I've always found it so difficult to heed. Glad you are back safe and sound with your cute boy.

You probably already know this, but I'll share it anyway...

Try to get out into the sun as much as you can as it helps to reset the internatl clock. If you are up in the middle of the night, don't turn on music or any lights, if you can. Try to keep the house as dark and quiet as you can. I used a flashlight for 2 nights at 3 a.m., then 5 a.m and by the third night, dd2 was up at 7 a.m. : a much more normal waking time!!

Good luck. It won't last long, and definitely sleep when he sleeps!

Welcome home!!! Enjoy your time off with your little man. What a treat to be able to stay home with him for the next eight months.

Have you introduced him to your pooch yet? Given I have a house full of pets (including one rather large dog), I'll be curious to know how it goes.
