The Parental Leave That Was... (week 37 photos at the end)

The last swing...
well, until the next time we go to the park

Week 37 ends
(thanks for the well wishes in my in box today!)

Heigh ho heigh ho
it's off to work I go...(went-but it doesn't rhyme)

Well I survived day one.
The class is full of children who are sweet and well behaved for the most part
and the parts that are not so sweet and well behaved will come around.
For the first time in my teaching career I have 20 children in my first grade class.  I kept wondering where the missing kids were...smaller classes are such a blessing.

The day started early, about 6 am...waking before the alarm which was lovely since the wee one didn't awake with me.

After I was ready for the day the favourite auntie moved into my bed where Benjaminh had chosen to sleep from about 3 am on and they both continued to slumber happily until about 8 at which time the dude did a bit of a double take followed quickly by a big smile...all was well.

When I made a call to check on my little love just before 9:30 (my one and only call, I'm only slightly obsessive) the wee Manh was chortling happily in the background over his breakfast.

He had a great day, busy and fun filled with outings and yummy food and visits to favourite people and books...the favourite Auntie read many many many board books today.  One small almost disaster because mommy failed to tell auntie that the manh can use the ottoman to climb onto the couch where he likes to run...towards the edge...but she caught him just in time.

Tomorrow is another day.  Work for me.  Fun for the little Manh.  It is a very busy day for both of us as I prepare madly for parent's night this Thursday (which includes both a musical preformance by the children and a curriculum presentation for the parents back in the classroom) and Ben travels to Guelph with his auntie for a delicious lunch and playdate with her friends and their children.

Then another day
and another
and another

Thank god I love my job.  Today I only once thought about counting the days of work until christmas break...

I'm glad your first day back went well. I remember how hard that day was for me, but isn't it great to have a job like teaching where the days fly by!
