Stick the landing

I've just had a revelation! This adoption journey is like a balance beam routine.

Seriously, have you been watching the women tonight? Back flip with a twist and you get to land on a 4 inch piece of wood suspended a meter in the air? Or perhaps you would like to combine a couple of back flips and then land in a scissor split following that closely with a hand stand.

If I could walk forward to the end of that beam and jump off without hurting myself it would be a good day. To walk backwards, do a sweet little 180 and jump without breaking a leg would be miraculous.

The thing is I've been prancing around on that beam for 27 months! A few hops, a little spin here and there, arms out to stop the "wobbles". I even sat on the beam a few times to catch my breath...but I didn't FALL.

Now all I have to do is stick the landing.

The routine is almost over.

Bev. So true. Your words have captured this journey to our children in a way that explains it all. Now your dis-mount is upon you. Just think how sweet the landing is going to be. I am keeping my fingers crossed for something today.

Hey Bev. Hang in there. I'm sure that at this point you could teach some of these gymnasts how to do amazing feats. We'll be thinking of you today.
