What to do...

It is 9:46.
Dude is tired.
Way past tired.
Last night it was late late late when he finally crashed and burned.
Getting up this morning was a trial.
Crawling away from me screaming.  "more nappy please mama.
Please mama
Plllleeeeeaaaaassssseeeee...."
Today the caregiver gave him only an hour to nap.
He has been mostly cheerful.
Until bedtime.

I can hear him jumping on the bed.
Chanting,"me can't sleep, me can't sleep"
I am simply not going in.
At all.
Gotta get past this.

He wants to cuddle
but recent history indicates that cuddles make the bedtime longer...
not shorter.

What to do.  What to do.  What to do.

Today I'd cave, but I'm a softie. Be tough, your little Manh knows you love him! Hopefully he is asleep already.

I've been known to let a special pillow, blanket and child fall asleep on the couch while I am working...

Since weaning D off his pacifier nap and bedtimes take FOREVER and he begs to fall asleep and/or cuddle in my bed. Most times I fall asleep and wake up to find him still playing in the bed next to me. Let me know if you find a happy medium.

Love hearing Jules and Sharon's opinion and hearing how we are all different...
Xav falls asleep on his own, 5 minutes after being put down, no problem.
Gabriel I end up lying with for sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 2 hours...
B, wish I could just let him stay in there... what did you end up doing?

B- when you figure all this out please let me know as I will be coming to you in about 6-8 months time for advice.

You could try melatonin .25 or .50 30 minutes before bed, in the very short term. Rock him for 10 minutes in the rocker and he'll be out cold. :) There are cherry disolvables at the health food store.

He's in a cycle or "funk" or whatever, and he's going to keep revving it up and up and up and you've got to break the cycle or it might go on for a long long time. Our little ones are tenacious about getting what they want!! But mama needs the littles to sleep!

Sleep begets sleep. No sleep begets even less sleep. Weird but true!
Good luck
Snick :)
