It has seriously been the longest 7 days of my life...with the possible exception of the days between seeing his sweet newborn face in June 2008 and traveling to meet him in January of 2009. Those days? Indescribable. Endless. An eternity. Last week? Sucked. But in a 36 pounds of 105 degree fever wrapped around my neck when will this end sort of sucked not a million miles away maybe he's sick and I'm not there kind of sucked.
He was sick. Laying still, moaning and fevering, 90 minutes after Advil sick. Waking all night long sick. Snuggling and sleeping all day long sick. Eating nothing. Drinking nothing. Weighed less on Friday at the dr. than he did in October at the hospital. Man oh man I'm not hoping for any repeats of that week. Ever.
But he's back.
Last night as I made him suffer through the dog whisperer he asked a Benish question..."Mama, does this story take place in Ecuador? It looks similar."
He told me about a dream he had where he was driving a ship that "thrust him rapidly through the waves in the Indian ocean."
Laying in bed this morning he did it again with "Mama, what's a minion?"
He's back.
There is a twinkle in his eye today.
He tried very hard to whack me with a pillow for a good 5 minutes before declaring he was tired (and he was...he's back but it will be a bit of climb to normal).
To rest from the pillow onslaught he wanted to lay on the bed and pretend to be "cloud gazing". So Ben.
And we went out park searching. Found 3 we didn't like and one we did. He played a bit at each one but liked the rest while we drove around in between stops.
As the day (well, hour and a half really) wore on he was getting really tired.
Announced, in Ben fashion, "Mama, I'm really tired. I need silence please." And promptly began to drool and snore. Like 1 second later.
That was 2 hours ago.
He's still asleep.
Welcome back sweet boy...now please eat some dinner.

Beautiful photos, and so so glad he is over whatever it was? Have doctors told you anything about what is going on with the fevers?...here my doctor has said if a fever lasts for three days he needs to get to the hospital for further testing?...and then my family doctor also says that after a bout of illness, the body is growing!!...anyhow hope it was the latter...glad the twinkle is back...!!
I'm so glad he's back!! Poor Ben. Poor you. I don't know what's harder: being sick or being the mama looking after the sick one!
I have a theory about all this sickness...not enough of a winter to kill all the bugs...and there's been PLENTY of them in my world too! My girls have been so sick this winter and the little one had the 105 fevers too!
Glad he better!
Snick :)
So glad to hear your little man is feeling better! It's AWFUL when they're sick!!
Glad that he is Ben again! 'Cause we love our Ben...
