Sweet Boy is 19 months old today. 12 short months ago he was still just a dream to me. My bags were packed. I was leaving in 36 hours. But it was all so very unreal.
Little dude continues to fill my days with giggles and squeals of joy. And singing and drum work...usually the drum is the upturned water dish but a chair will do in a pinch. (notice lots of teeth on the right and nothing on the left yet...strange)
He has added in a bit of whining and is developing a lovely little "I would like it my way all the time" fit but variety is the spice of life. Where once I thought I was hearing words and little phrases it appears that that was either my imagination or a passing fancy. The dude is pretty much wordless these days (except mama and a nice variety of sound effects) with long orations that sound like sophisticated language but that the tall people just don't "get". Makes me go hmmm...Makes the pediatric feeding specialist go ... hearing test, ENT appointment, speech referral. Because of Ben's history of delayed swallow reflex and aspiration the team is going to take a closer look at his speech development before he has a chance to get too far behind.
The manh is all about cars and trains and trucks and really anything with wheels.
Shopping carts
Dishwasher trays
Office chairs
Train table bins
He will crawl about on the floor enjoying imaginative play with his assorted wheel toys and tracks and garages, roads and ramps and bridges, for an hour or more. Longer and longer if mommy is playing along the whole time.
Throw in a dinosaur or a viscious tiger and things get a bit dicey. Usually the vehicle brigade wins.
Add in uncle Matt or Uncle Bill and their various "crash" "bang" "boom" noises and the play gets real exciting. Today there was a box.
The boy loves his boxes!
11.8kg (about 26+pounds) and 84.5 cm (33 inches)
Manh oh Manh...do I ever love my little Manh.

Bev, your blog is still a joy to read.
We're going for our first speech screening on Thursday - at almost 18 months we say ma for grapes, more, and Mom, and we say (quite clearly and consistently) "alk" for cat, and that is about it. Oh, and we don't imitate sounds at all unless they come from our brother. Happily we seem to have some receptive language going on.
From your next post it sounds like Ben has amazing language skills!
Thank you so much for this writing-every-day thing, I am so enjoying it already!
