Spring Slumber
Well, we are celebrating "Back to Work" with a bit of sleep trouble.
A Summer Snooze
When it is bedtime we put our "baba" to sleep in the kitchen sink, give Boomer a kiss on the nose,
say ni-ni to our trains and cars,
brush our teeth,
read a story or 10,
and finally, lay down in the crib and go to sleep while mama rests on the bed...
Walking around Hoan Kiem Lake
or so it was before Christmas. Before 6 or more nights in cribless dwellings cuddled up with mama
for long warm afternoon naps
and allllll night long.
Mama can't get enough of this face
Now we do all of the above and then dude screams for rescue as the crib gets closer and closer.Sleep has never been the easiest thing.
Dude first demonstrates that his world is off it's axis through sleep interruption
and then in other ways like mild crankiness.
A cool day out on Ha Long Bay
This week? Both. Sleep trouble and cranky all in one.
So we go through the steps up to the crib
substitute rocking and cuddling with mama
a few renditions of songs that include counting and monkeys
and flailing arm actions by exhausted babies
and then slumber comes.
Tonight, alseep and happy (wait, I think it is mama that is happy)
It leaves again if mama leans over the crib so dude has won the short battle. He presently slumbers up on mama's bed.
Sleep matters. So does a happy baby. Mama wants both.
My world is spinning on it's axis.

As long as you both get sleep, your bed works just as well as the crib. I hope he sleeps through and wakes up with a smile for his mother.
I am so impressed. The pictures are fabulous.
For myself I can already see that the picture a day is a challenge for me. The darn daylight saving stuff. It is dark by the time I get home and therefore flash is needed - I so don';t like flash.

Whatever works- we had a rough rough night last night. Transitions are hard.
I wish my boys would fall asleep with me in my bed, just once.(Well, you know, not once they're 12 or so...) Maybe they wouldn't be so reluctant to make eye contact now (but we are improving with effort!)
I do feel for you with the sleep. I can't even imagine living your life - although since I hear that a lot myself I know how truly wonderful even the craziest life really is!
