Beautiful from beginning to end...

Well, there was snow on the rooftops when Ben and I crawled out of bed at the break of dawn.
From that low point on the day just got better and better...

Morning snuggles
A warm bottle
Books and tickles
Wardrobe change
Dog walk in the chill, mittens and hats required
All before 8am
Then off to Mama's day brunch

Ben helped Uncle Matt prepare brunch

and helped

and helped

sort of

Maple pecan scones
Fruit salad
Hand made pork sausage
Cheese omelet
and tea, hot and wet and served while mama lounged about

a gift of lovely flowers
in a place of honour

3 hours of "mama and me" napping

nar wor (yard work to those of us over 23 months of age)
spooning dirt from one garden to the other
pointing out the dog's contributions to the yard so mama could clean them up
ass-dee (that would be nasty folks)
all the while mama chopped and pruned and filled the yard waste bags
collection day is tomorrow
done

A neighbourhood walk
A visit with the local coffee shop for some stee-tea and a bit bit
some whee whee on the slide
a small theft of stones from the neighbour's driveway for the digger
(okay, a medium sized theft)
a few late in arriving but very much appreciated sunbeams
and a dinner of noodles and grapes with my boy
perfect

A hot and very long shower
while dude built a nest just outside the bathroom door
a body pillow covered in his good wishes quilt
filled it with all of his stuffy friends
elaela, key-key (monkey), quack,
wuff, hop-hop among others
pretended to nap
pretended to teach them to fly
perfect

A bath for the short one,
a snugg and a cuddle
and a dozen "or 2" books
a very important call to nana
a sleeping boy
perfect

And I sit here wondering
how did I fill my time
before every day became
a new and improved version
of perfect
